Attorney Brien was inspired to pursue law by Earl Warren, former Governor of California and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1953 - 1969. The Warren Court held segregation in the public schools unconstitutional (Brown v. Board of Education); that the Constitution protects a general right to privacy (Griswold v. Connecticut); that many guarantees of the Bill of Rights apply to the states (Mapp v. Ohio, Miranda v. Arizona); found an equal protection clause is contained in the Fifth Amendment (Bolling v. Sharpe); and that the Constitution grants the right to a court-appointed attorney for those unable to afford one (Gideon v. Wainright). Earl
Warren served as the Chairman of The President's Commission on the
Assassination of President Kennedy. Attorney Brien's Aunt Nina Warren Brien is Earl Warren's daughter.
